New hair, a step towards the dark side!

BEFORE!

I have been a bright, bottle blonde for as long as I can remember. Maintaining my locks is a very highmaintence and costly procedure, I go to my salon every 6 weeks spending on average £100 a go!

I love getting my hair done and I love how my hair looks for about 3 weeks and then the dreaded roots come creeping back. It doesn't help either that I have a really annoying flick at the front of my parting which shows them off nicely.

Anyway my roots depress me and I'm sick of them I've been meaning for a while to try to go back to my natural colour, a dark blonde but have been to scared to do it.
Yesterday I took that step!

Yes, it is still blonde but it is clearly darker in tone, bye bye platinum blonde locks. The hairdresser told me that as this was a huge step for me to take that I should start going darker gradually to be sure it was what I wanted.

I was so scared at first when she showed me the book of hair colours and picked out a really dark brown to break up the blonde. She put three colours through my hair in the end, a light blonde, golden blonde and a dark, almost brown blonde.

I'm so glad I took the step towards the dark side beacause I love my new, more managable colour hair. It feels so much more natural and not so in your face blonde. Don't get me wrong I loved having light blonde hair but because it was also long I felt self conscious about it sometimes.

What do you think, am I better suited to lighter or darker? I'd really appreciate your opinion!
xx

I love the darker blonde! It really compliments your skin tone and looks lovely and warm. My hair is naturally dark blonde and I have highlights- everyone thinks it's natural though because when my roots grow you can hardly see them!

You pull off both blondes but I think I actually like the darker one more, it blends with your coloring better :)

I agree with Shortiee31, it makes your face look less pale and I think it really suits you and should be a bit less obvious when it grows out. Gorgeous x

i like the bit darker color. definitely puts more color in your face - and heck if it's easier to deal with with having a toddler around - makes things all the more simpler. me - i chopped mine all off and haven't colored it yet - if you go to my blog -- mylifeinquestion.blogspot you'll see pics of how short it is.

Gosh!! I'm honestly 50/50 I really adore your bright blonde, but I can see that this more manageable colour will be less maintenance.... oh I dunno Holly.... you're a blonde blonde to me. Don't go too dark!! xoxo

I think it looks fab! There's a website called "taaz" where you can photoshop different hair styles on your face and so, you could see what you would look like with dark hair!

I like it either way, they both suit you! I'd say I prefer it darker though, it's more flattering on you. xXx

ps, it might sound a bit silly but i think it makes you look a bit more older and more like...woman than girl if you know what i mean?? No offence!! x

the darker is much. the platinum wasn't helping ur complexion at all.. it really washed u out. i even think u'd make a gorgeous brunette. but that new shade of blonde looks wonderful on u. def warms up face.

100% loving the darker blonde - it actually shows off your eyebrows and other facial features more.

I'm exactly the same as you, I missed my hairdressers on Friday but they actually told me I don't need to go in because my blonde isn't too contrasted with the roots as they grow out.
Having darker blonde means you can go every 12 weeks instead of 6. I am glad my hairdresser said I don't need it instead of just doing it for the money anyway!
I just make sure I get in the sun so my roots lighten naturally!

You look great with the new hair colour. I like the darker blonde better because it makes your face look a little bit softer. Hopefully you will like your new look after the three weeks have passed.

Gorgeous with both the lighter and darker blonde. The darker blonde really brings out the best parts of your complexion though and really warms up your face.

I really love this darker blonde on you! I have been dying my hair for YEARS as well....:s...I have been debating whether I should add in some lowlights...maintaining blonde hair is so co$tly!

hey hun its good to break up bleach blonde hair with a few darker bits - gives it more texture and much cheaper too as you can leave it a lot longer - love it! x

U look gorgeous either way, However, I prefer the blonder version....It ooozes confidences and shows strength as a woman....we don't always feel strong and confident however, and the warmer version could feel more comfortable in the public eye. I say, whatever U prefer and like the most is always the best choice. I understand both looks serve a purpose....I say celebrate the blonde!!either way u look fabulous....Lotsaluv2u!!
