This years beauty cult product definitely has to be nail varnish. I've never seen so many colour trends, greys, lilacs, tiffany shades and now jade thanks to Chanel.The next big thing isn't on the colour spectrum though but more with the finish. Matte is the new black.
I've tried all finishes over the years, sheer, sparkly and glossy but never matte until now. A few weeks ago I was sent Avant-Garde by Nubar from their Modern Matte collection and I have to say I really like it.
I was a little sceptical at first, in the bottle it looks like any other nail polish, pretty and pearly but when it dries the glossiness disapears leaving the finish pictured above.
I love the colour, a gorgeous reddy brown, perfect for the autumn. Although I wouldn't opt for a matte finish all the time, it is nice to have the choice and I have chosen this when I want something a little different.
As well as being a trendsetter the LA based brand is also chemical conscious. All of their nail polishes are Formaldehyde, Phthalate and Toluene free.

On a separate note, I know there have been many issues raised recently in the beauty community about the credibility of bloggers and the fact we get sent products to review. Yes, some of us do recieve products but most of us would only ever review things we genuinely believe in.
- I will never review something unless I'm completely happy with the product and give my 100% honest opinion.
- Would never recommend something I didn't believe in.
- Will always state if I have been sent the product I review, 99% of products I write about I purchase myself.
- I am not involved with any companies and am 100% free to say what I like.
Has anyone else tried matte nails? Does anyone know of any other brands I can buy some from?! I want to try some more!

I love your blog and I think all your reviews are great. You shouldn't be criticized for doing something that benefits and informs others of products that they might not have had the chance to know about if it wasn't for you (or another blogger) that gave a great review.

I like matte (just about... its taking me a while to get into it) but this shade is too much for me! lol.. I need a few more months to get used to it. I wore a black matte the other day and one of my male friends was like
'is your nailvarnish... dirty?'

Those nails look fabulous on you - nothing matte has come out in New Zealand yet (as far as I have noticed anyway) but I can't wait to try it out when it does! Hope everything is going well at your end.
