As a busy mum with a daily 'to do' list the length of my arm and a three year old to keep occupied, spending a long time getting ready in the morning just isn't an option.
The pursuit for the simple, time efficient but pretty make-up look has been a long one but I think I'm finally there now. Phew!
A year ago I used to allow at least an hour for doing my make-up before I was ready to face the outside world but now my routine has been honed and perfected in just less than 15 minutes, that's including hair too!
I'm the first to admit my daily face is nothing special, it's always simple, much of the time neutral and most importantly easy. The most complex thing in my routine which often takes longer than anything else is choosing which eyeshadows to wear.
However in the last week I've found a combination of shadows that eliminates all the umming and ahhing, leaving me with a quick and pretty look I love.
The trio above are Mac's Ricepaper, a soft peachy gold with shimmer, Haux, a beautiful purpley brown and Sable, an amazing plummy bronze. They are all gorgeous on their own but put together are possibly my favourite trio ever.
The plummy tones of both Haux and Sable compliment each other perfectly while Ricepaper adds a subtle hint of gold to lighten the lid and blend them together.
To get my simple, day friendly look I apply Ricepaper all over my lid with a fluffy brush (20secs), then I take a tapered brush, Mac's 224, dip it in Haux and sweep it across the crease and down into the outer corner creating a V (30secs).
On my fluffy brush to finish the look I sweep a tiny amount of Sable to the outer corner of my lid to blend it all together and add a little shimmer (10secs).
I then grab my gel liner or liquid depending on which ones closer and sweep it across my lashline with a tiny flick at the corner (30 secs).Mascara of choice at the moment is Covergirl's Lash Blast ( in the UK it's MaxFactor's False Lash Effect) great for adding volume while lengthening at the same time. One coat = fabulous lashes (30secs).
Voila the 2 minute eye!
I just wanted to share this with you as I always find applying my daily eyeshadow a bit of a chore but with this trio it's quick, easy and I love the result. Pretty but not overdone lids.Whats your fave daily trio of the moment? If it's quick and easy I'd love to give it a go!

Most definately a yummy mummy, you look gorgeous - Such a pretty look for an every day eye too :)
Might have to test out that trio
Xx
I wish I felt like I could wear eye shadow through the day. I just think it looks too much on me and I would really love to as well. But I can wear a really strong lip through the day. Its weird. But I do love the combination of shadows you have used. They look made up but not too over done, you look gorgeous as always xx
wow, i really like this look. it IS quick and simple. this convinced me to finally buy ricepaper. ( : thanks for the look!
Those colors look great together! My standby is Brule all over, Retrospect on the lid, and Cork in the crease. Then I'll tightline my upper lashline with Fluidline in Dipdown and finish with CG's LashBlast. It looks subtle but is still polished.
a very pretty simple look for everyday wear! thanks for sharing..
That's a gorgeous look - even more amazing for taking so little time! I'm going to try something similar next time I'm in a rush! x
Hey chica, I love this look on you, very pretty!!! I also love Sable it's a beautiful color, I need to use it more often for sure! My trio for a quick look: Satin Taupe (LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE it) + Quarry + Femme-Fi or Naked Lunch.
This look is so pretty and perfect for me for obvious reasons!!
My favourite quick e/s look is Vex blended all over with a fluffy brush and then Print smudged into my upper lashline with #219 brush. I then smudge a little matte black e/s into the outer corner, winging it out slightly for a kinda lazy pin-up inspired eye.
I'm impressed that you manage to use your gel liner so quickly. Jesse is still at the stage where he clings to my ankles while I'm doing my face so I'm always worried I'll end up with a wonky line!! I just have to settle for a soft smudgy line at the moment!!
Thanks for such a helpful post, these are going straight on my wishlist!!

I often do the same thing when I'm in a rush and don't have time for bright shadows or liners. Today it was Femme Fi, Satin Taupe and Twinks, but I often do similar with Haux, Retorspeck, Patina, Tempting etc, there are loads of great MAC options for this!
Such a gorgeous look! Love it :) XO

The eyes are looking so gorgeous. Such a pretty look for an every day outing. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous look, I often think the simple quick looks are often the best :)
Likewise I have perfected a quick 15 minute morning routine (after showering etc), but just because I'm always late and rushing...so hopefully I can stick to it whilst caring for a newborn soon too!
Power to the yummy mummies :) xxx
Lovely look like the colors in your palette do u mind naming them all
thanx
Nancy
I think ricepaper will have to be my next MAC purchase! Seems like such a staple. Really lovely look.
I am currently loving patina on the lid with satin taupe on the crease, and phloof! to highlight (although sometimes I leave that out) xx
great combination! my current one is mac's mulch & beauty marked with barry m dazzledust in 'tan' as an inner corner highlight :)
Very nice look. Rice Paper is one of may favorite eyeshadows from MAC. On my next visit to a MAC store I will definitely get my hands on Sable (I just fell in love with it)
That is a FAB everyday look, I must try that.. I find eyeshadows everyday such a faff, but like the way it looks. I have 2 little ones to try and contain whilst applying my face!! Challenge..
Can I ask what is your fave eyeliner as I am after a HG one, but cannot find a really good one, but yours look SO GOOD :)
(Is it brown or black?)
