Paradoxal - a must have or nice to have?

With all the beauty buzz surrounding Chanel's latest lacquer, Paradoxal, I hot footed it down to my nearest counter this morning to take a look.

Did I buy it? Of course.

Do I think it's that special? Not sure.

In the bottle Paradoxal looks beautiful, it's a very deep with a vibrant purple pearl effect when light is reflected on it.

But when applied it looks a little dull, that gorgeous vibrant purple colour is lost on the nail and it simply looks like an off black/dark grey.

With the flash in the picture you can see the shimmer a little but in real life you can't see it. It's not all bad the formulation is really nice and the colour is perfect for Autumn but it just isn't that special or what I thought it would be.

I feel I could find a cheaper dupe if I tried so for me it's definitely a nice to have but not a must have! P.S Great dupe thanks to VexInTheCity over at Models Own in the colour Purple Grey.

On the other hand another of Chanel's latest offerings did impress me, a lot.

The new LE Intense eye pencil in 69 Clair caught my eye instantly like all nude things do.

I don't have the biggest eyes and I'm not a fan of the bright white eyeliner look so I was so excited to see this pencil.

I have tried other off white liners like Benefit's EyeBright (too pink) and Guerlain does a nice one too but the consistency is not great ( scratchy and hard).

Chanel's Kohl liner is creamy and the colour is gorgeous, a peachy almost flesh coloured pencil which subtly just helps to open up the eyes.

Did you fall for the hype and pick up Paradoxal what do you think??

Also, have you tried the nude liner on your waterline..does it stay put all day??

How disappointing when a nail varnish just doesn't work out how you think it will :(

I must have been living under a rock because I've never noticed nude eyeliners....any chance you could post a piccie of it on? I'm intrigued!

I have Stila's Topaz eyeliner but it's too creamy and too pigmented, I just can't seem to make it look natural. Chanel's eyeliner seems perfect. Why does it have to be LE :(

It's a shame when a hyped up product becomes a bit of a let-down. I still like this colour though, and I haven't seen a colour like this myself so it might be worth getting anyway. I love the bluey purple shimmer to it.

I'm looking for a decent eyebrow pencil, do you think that eyeliner could be used for that purpose, it looks the right sort of shade, all the ones I've seen that are meant for blonde eyebrows still seem a bit dark.

It's a beautiful colour...I'm just not sure I could justify spending that much on a nail polish. x

i really like this chanel polish. i have metro chic also and i can definitely see the differences. metro chic is boring when compared to this chanel (in my opinion). thanks for doing this post i think i'm going to have to check out that eyeliner soon. <3, melanie

Best dupe is Models Own Purple Grey. There's no difference, other than the price tag!

If you can get your hands on Stila's Eye Kajal in 'Topaz' that's a great nude that is REALLY creamy, but lasts really well on the waterline.
I had to get it from a US Sephora though.

Hmm, definitely think Paradoxal isn't as special as it first looks!
Been looking for a nice and soft nude eyeliner for a while now (: Do you find it lasts fairly well?

I bought Paradoxal yesterday and love how dramatic it looks against my pale skin.

I suspect there may be dupes but, for now, my love affair with all things Chanel continues...

I must admit I did want Paradoxal before even seeing it in real life..
But then I read Lollipop26's review and she wasn't impressed, so I decided to leave it.

I do like Chanel's colours, but the finish I never find as good as OPI, so I think I'll be sensible (for one in my life ?!) and buy a cheaper alternative...
