I'm having a mega blog sale tonight

My collection was getting so overwhelming that I'd literally suffer from a panic attack every time I did my face so yesterday a good friend inspired me to create a new streamline collection (above).

It's true what they say about clearing out, rather therapeutic.

So anyway my loss is your gain and a chance to pick up lots of great, barely used products most of which are Mac and Limited Edition.

If your interested check out my blog sale over at BagaYMbargain at 8pm tonight.
Ohh and I'll also be donating a huge bag to GiveandMakeup which currently offers free postage thanks to BeautyBay.com, please check this out.

Mac Wonder Woman swatches and a giveaway

Guess what I was doing at half eight last Thursday morning?

Like some other hardcore macaholics I was on Selfridges.com filling up my virtual shopping basket with Wonder Woman goodies.

I'm not comic crazy nor have I been a big fan of Mac's most recent collections but a few bits from WW had to be mine.

Although I haven't had time to properly review my latest acquisitions I thought some swatches would be useful if your waiting for the release on the first Thursday in March.

Like with most collaboration collections there are always different opinions on the design of the packaging, a lot of people may not be fans of WW but personally I like it, it's fun, different and fits the theme.

You've probably already guessed what I purchased as I am a little predictable when it comes to colours but I'll tell you anyway.

First on my list is the gigantic new MSF in Pink Power.

I knew that some things would be bigger that usual and more expensive but seriously the new Mineralized Skinfinishes are HUGE.

They're a massive 20g in size making them twice as big as the usual MSF's which actually makes them pretty good value for money at £28.

Pink Power is beautiful, my favourite thing in the whole collection by far.

It is made up of three shades, a soft peachy gold highlight, matte natural toned bronze and a rose gold highlight which are all really pigmented.

I really like how all the shades are separate and the super sized product makes it so much easier to be able to apply them individually or swirled together which makes a really natural peach bronze.

The size makes it easier to use as a body bronzer too which I did this morning using my giant Illamasqua Kabuki and it looked lovely, giving a natural bronzed glow.

The next item was a bit of an unnecessary purchase but when I couldn't get hold of the blush I wanted I popped Emancipation in my basket.

Again the new lipglosses have been super sized and although I like the fact the MSF's are bigger, making a lipgloss this big is a bit ridiculous.

10.5g compared to the usual 4.8g.

Look at the doe foot applicator next to a regular Mac lipgloss!!

The giantness of it makes getting the product out quite tricky, you have to pull pretty hard to get the wand through the stopper and when it does come out lipgloss flies everywhere, not good!

Anyway apart from that design flaw the colour is actually really nice, Emancipation is a baby pink with a slight hint of peach and some subtle shimmer running through it.

Formula wise it has the same old slightly sticky formula and same old Vanilla scent as usual Mac lipglasses.

Although I like Emancipation I have never finished a normal lipglass half the size so I doubt I'll ever get through this mega tube so all in all I'm not sure it was a great purchase for £17.

Last but not least the item that I coveted the most from WW, the duo blush in Mighty Aphrodite.

I knew this would be the Sell Out item from the collection but I hadn't banked on it going quite so fast, half eight and it was already gone.

But Twitter was a lifesaver and a lovely blogger offered to grab me one from the store so I wouldn't miss out.

Mighty Aphrodite is split into two sections, a pinky peach with a soft gold sheen and a small area of hot pink.

Colour payoff is mixed on this blush, the larger section is pretty pigmented while the smaller, bright colour is very hard to get off.

Personally this isn't a problem for me as I don't want clown cheeks and the softer shade is much more wearable.

Swirled together it gives a pretty but not massively unique soft rose shade.

Overall if your on a budget Pink Power is the stand out product for me, great value for money, really nice quality MSF with three gorgeous shades.

Hope this helped if your considering a Wonder Woman haul next week.

Check back later tonight to be in with a chance of winning one of these LE products that I picked up at the weekend for a lucky reader.

Get rid of roots

Being a blonde is a high maintenance job; whether I've visited the hairdressers in the past week or the past month for a colour touch up my roots are always pretty obvious.

This drives me nuts.

Well before the big dry shampoo boom Batiste has been a must have in my collection for years to help me disguise my darker side.

I spotted their newest addition last week on the shelves and I had to buy it having tried and loved most of their other variations.

Unsightly roots!

Instead of the usual white powder that most dry shampoos use which leaves a not very attractive or natural ashy/grey colour in the hair that has to be thoroughly brushed out, this version is slightly coloured.

It comes in two versions, blonde and brunette offering a hint of colour which makes it amazing for covering roots if you have any and use it for this purpose like me.

I used to think the original versions were good at helping me prolong my colour just that little bit longer but the hint of colour version works twice as well.

I don't need to brush it out, I just spray it on and rub it in; it is undetectable!

Tada, minus roots I am now a natural blonde (wink, wink!)

Slightly more expensive than the original versions at £2.99 a can it's still much cheaper than other dry shampoos on the market and in my opinion much better.

Dry shampoo is a great way to get instant volume, freshen your hair, get rid of grease throughout the day and now make your colour look better for longer.

If you dye your hair you have to try this! Say bye bye to depressing roots!

Have you tried this?? How do you disguise your roots?

Last week to win your hero a hamper!

This time next week, on Valentines Day to be precise the last ever winner of Help: a Heart's, Nominate your Hero campaign will be announced.

That makes this week your last chance to get your entries in and win your loved one or the hero in your life an exclusive Healthy Heart Warming Hamper as a well deserved treat.

Week three's winner was Natalie Fairbank who nominated her boyfriend Kaal.

'As a member of the armed forces I have a tendency to feel that the term 'hero' does not even come close to what he is and what he does for a living. But in addition to his work life, he is my hero because of how he makes my life better in every single way. I work a very long way from home and as a result am out of the house for large proportions of the day, which doesn't leave me lots of time. From picking me up from the station, to surprising me with flowers while he is away on operational tour (and probably has more important things to worry about) and even making sure all the washing is done, he is one person who always puts my needs first, no matter how stressful and demanding his own life is. If anyone deserves recognition for everything he does, professionally and personally I believe he does.'

To win the special person in your life a hamper simply state who your hero is, their relationship to you and why they are a hero.

  • Leave a comment on the campaign blog HERE.
  • E-mail at HelpaHeart@workswithwater.co.uk
  • Tweet at www.twitter.com/HelpaHeart using #HelpaHeart
  • Write on the Facebook wall at www.facebook.com/HelpaHeart
Take a minute and enter your hero this week as it's the LAST week to do so when the campaign ends next Monday.

Plastic fantastic lips

If Barbie were real I have a slight inkling she'd have snapped up this gorgeous lipstick in a shot.

Channeling my inner plastic princess at the weekend I picked up a few of No7 's new Spring collection lipstick in Brigitte, a very unnatural, milky baby pink with a hint of lilac, which needless to say I love!

Cosmetics combined with cardboard for me is usually a firm 'No No' on a wear and tear basis but I have to say I like the graffiti packaging. It's nice to have something a little more fun than the usual black plastic packaging of most lipsticks in my collection.

Brigitte is a beautiful shade and having gone through my entire collection this afternoon which contains just over 100 lippies, I have to admit rather unique too.

Not one compared, most were either too pink (Viva Glam Gaga, YSL Volupte 7, Snob etc) or too lilac (Fashion Mews, Barry M 129 or Lavender Whip).

This is a perfect pastel pink with a soft hint of lilac, stunning for spring and a shade which I actually think would look amazing on most skin tones.

As you can see from the swatch it has a creamy formula with a glossy finish, it's lovely to apply and reminds me of the formula of the No17 Mirror Shine lipsticks or the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited range.

It is not a heavy, sits in your lips lipstick but light and on the sheerer side which I love for a subtle wash of colour and a shiny finish.

Having said that apply a few times and the colour can be built up without any hassle.

Here it is applied in a sheer wash across the lips.

Another pretty picture, just because!

Above is Brigitte applied with a few layers, the colour is much more intense. The formula is great if you want a versatile lipstick that can be subtle but at the same time strong when built up.

I've been wearing this every day since I've had it, sheerly in the day for a subtle pop of pink or a little heavier at night with a Strong black winged liner which I love (shown above).

I can tell already I'll be embracing my inner Barbie Girl this spring and making Brigitte my signature lip colour.

Like most good products it is of course Limited Edition and won't be around in Boots too long so if you are interested I recommend taking a look asap! I purchased mine with my handy fiver off voucher so it was half price as RRP is a well worth it tenner.

Will you be getting plastic fantastic this spring??

Week Two's winner was Nicolla Bishop.

"I nominate my friend and work colleague Nicki. We work with people with dementia and absolutely love it despite it's challenges. Nicki is someone that always goes above and beyond. She spends a lot of her own time taking people with dementia out and running fabulous activities for them- like baking classes. She's a single mum and has a lot of problems in her personal life but never fails to make everyone else happy."
