Maximum Cover - Irreplaceable

There are very few products in my collection that I simply could NOT live without. Of course I have many that I like, and even more that I love, but it's rare that any can truly be labelled irreplaceable.

Maximum Cover for me, is one such product. It is without a doubt one of the only items I repurchase over and over again, a product so good that it's never been duped by anything I've ever tried over the years and the one thing I can NEVER be without.

Although sold as a foundation I have always used Estee Lauder's Double Wear Max Cover as a concealer. It covers anything and everything including scarring, spots, hyperpigmentation, redness, dark circles and even tattoos! Unfortunately I can't verify this last point with you but you get what I mean; it's seriously good coverage.

You'd think that a formulation with this much coverage would be heavy on the skin wouldn't you? Well, miraculously this isn't.

One of the main reasons I love Max Cover is the fact that it can erase all flaws within seconds but still look so natural on the skin. A rare combination which I think makes this product something special.

The proof is in the picture, right?

Half a pea sized amount applied lightly with my Sephora Mineral brush.

Having tried both the old and new formulations of this I have to say the current formula is a great improvement. It has what seems like more of a silicone texture to it than before making it so easy to blend and the finish even better.

Not much is needed to conceal at all, I use about half a pea size when covering my cheek with past acne scarring and in smaller areas like under my eyes only a tiny dot is needed for both. This means the tube lasts forever (30ml), personally I finish one every 8/9 months but it totally depends on your skins needs and condition as to how much you use.

Application-wise I find that using a fluffy, domed shaped brush with a handle is the best. By buffing the product onto the skin and lightly around the area using these 'kabuki' style brushes you get an almost airbrushed finish which looks as close to flawless as you can get.

On smaller areas around the nose or the eyes the Bare Minerals Eye Kabuki brush is fab, but if you have more surface to conceal like I do, then there's no better brush than Sephora's Mineral Powder Brush. It's also fab for applying and blending liquid foundation too!

Bare Minerals Eye Kabuki and Sephora Mineral Powder Brush.

Max Cover is not only a great concealer but it's also perfect for mixing with lighter foundations on bad skin days to add just that little bit more coverage or to make them last longer. I often do this on days when I need my skin to be completely perfect.

Now as much as I love this foundation/concealer, it has to be said that it isn't for everyone.

If you are lucky enough to have great skin with the occasional spot then this probably isn't necessary for you, but for those of us that need a little more help getting perfect skin then this is definitely worth considering especially if you suffer from any of the skin complaints I mentioned above.

If you want to find out a little more about why I love it or to see just how I apply it and use it daily to fake my flawless face then watch my latest YT video below.

Oh and before I forget it has an SPF15 and is water resistant, it literally does not budge making it great for those living in hotter climates or with oily skin.

I really do love this product; it literally hasn't left my make-up bag for the past 2 or more years and unless my skin suddenly decides to behave I can't see it going anywhere soon either!

What product is indispensable in your collection?

I completely agree Holly! Great as a concealer but it is way too heavy to wear alone. I know you LOVE this one but Clinique do their own version too, called Continuous Coverage, you should try it - but again, as concealer, not full face.

It looks great, what do you use as a moisturiser? I'm wondering if my 'healing' moisturisers would help your skin?

@the pampered pout - yes but this is much heavier but lighter in consistancy, amazing!!! x

@Miss LV - yes massively, the texture of this is so lovely to work with where I find DW is heavy, sticky and hard to blend. This is heavier but can be applied to look much lighter x x

I can't find it in stores, I can find other products by the brand, but the product that you're talking about, I can't! I've tried to look for it online, but I can't find any store that sells this product that sends the product within Europe :/

Oh I would love to try this but Ester Lauder never go pale enough for me! Do you think that mixing a small amount of MAC Face & Body in white would spoil the effect of it? x

Fab video, I think I will try this out for my horrific dark under eye circles! Please could you tell me the nail varnish you are wearing in the video, I love it! xx

I'm not normally one to comment on blogs, however i also use E.L. max cover and, like you, find it 'irreplaceable'! (so had to comment!)

I have terrible rosacea flare-ups and find this to be the only foundation to even come close to masking the redness. I think i've spent hundreds on trying different foundations, high end to drugstore with little hope, until i found max cover!!!

Whilst it can be tricky to apply and takes a little practice, i find the best method for application is a good quality stippling brush, which will help to achieve a perfect 'airbrush' finish!
Love it!! :)
