The shimmery goodness above is Luxe and Lush, my latest nail polish acquisition and one of the new Hunger Games inspired lacquers by China Glaze.
The collection, Colors from the Capitol, consists of twelve different shades, one for each district (hardcore HG fans will understand) and although pretty, non really stood out to me apart from this one.
Read on and I'm sure you'll see why.
A nice change from all the glittery polishes around, this clear based varnish is crammed full of tiny reflective plastic flakes.
In every light they hit the colours change, one minute you get a glimpse of blue then green then on to pink. Stunning!
Initially I had thought that the application of Luxe and Lush may be tricky, I suspected the flakes may not lie flat, but luckily they all sit perfectly on the nail.
The best way to apply I've found is to blob (not the technical term) some on, then gently move it in to desired position, brushing traditionally just doesn't work on these kinds of polish.
Worn alone it almost looks as though tiny shards of glass have fallen on to your nails, pretty, but I think I prefer it as a top coat or an extra layer worn over another polish.
Depending on the colour you paint on to, it almost has a chameleon like quality and transforms to match its background. On cooler tones it reflects blue/green and on warmer tones pink/gold.
I personally love it over black and wore this combo to see the film over the weekend in tribute to its release, sad I know but I'm a true fangirl now!
If you are interested in this polish or the Hunger Games collection then I purchased mine from here. The delivery was super fast and it came the very next day which gets a big thumbs up from an impatient me :) .
Do you like the Hunger Games? Got your hands on the China Glaze polishes? Which ones?
